It was a good run, but the Strasburg Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eaton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Strasburg has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Strasburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Austin Velasco. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. Velasco is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyce Bollers, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eaton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mitch Haythorn, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Haythorn's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Lucas Stone was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Strasburg's loss dropped their record down to 5-1. As for Eaton, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strasburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rocky Ford at 12:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. As for Eaton, they will head out on the road to face off against Skyview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
