After flying high against the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators last Friday, the Baptist Hill Bobcats came back down to earth. Baptist Hill's tough 50-29 defeat to Burke on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Baptist Hill has struggled against Burke recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Baptist Hill saw an underclassman step up: Malaya Hill scored seven points along with five steals. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sharice Blufton, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Baptist Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Burke racked up 12 assists.
Leading Burke to victory were Akila Lewis and Andrea Kelly. Lewis dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten steals, while Kelly dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kelly has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played.
Baptist Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Burke, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
