They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lucy Beckham 68-41 at home. Bluffton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Tacoya Heyward, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Bluffton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Brown, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Lucy Beckham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Annabelle Cox, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cox has scored all season. Charlotte Newkirk was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Bluffton's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. As for Lucy Beckham, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Colleton County has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Lucy Beckham, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (James Island is ranked 30th, while the Bengals are ranked 49th).
