The Meadows School Mustangs will head out to face off against the Pahrump Valley Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The Meadows School took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Valley with a sharp 27-11 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Kate Verdirame was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Bernhard, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
The Meadows School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Pahrump Valley never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past Del Sol 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Ava Chiancone, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Riley Saldana, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
The win snapped The Meadows School's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for Pahrump Valley, their record is now 11-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. The Meadows School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .438. However, it's not like Pahrump Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
The Meadows School might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Pahrump Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can The Meadows School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
