The Caston Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Winamac Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Caston took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lewis Cass, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Kings 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Eli Holloway made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Noah Herd was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Winamac let North Judson-San Pierre stack seven runs on them in the fifth inning on Tuesday but luckily Winamac prevailed anyway. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Bluejays 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 29, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Cash Roth, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Will Malchow was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
Caston's record now sits at 12-4. As for Winamac, their record is now 10-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Winamac struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Caston's way against Winamac in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Caston made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
