The Arlington Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Ramona Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Arlington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Arlington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Citrus Hill on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.
Isabella Ortiz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ortiz was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Sierra Walters looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Arlington got a massive performance out of Ryleigh Pliego, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Delilah Jara also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Arlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ramona suffered their closest defeat since March 1, 2025 on Saturday. They fell just short of Ayala by a score of 9-7. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Emily Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Villegas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Arlington's record is now 6-1. As for Ramona, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arlington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .401. However, it's not like Ramona struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arlington came out on top in a nail-biter against Ramona when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
