After flying high against the Edison Private Eagles last Wednesday, the Miami Christian Victors came back down to earth. The contest between Miami Christian and True North Classical Academy wasn't particularly close, with Miami Christian falling 86-69. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miami Christian in their matchups with True North Classical Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Victors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sebastian Gonzalez, who scored 22 points. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Pau Verges, who scored 14 points.
True North Classical Academy found their leader in underclassman Jasen Lopez, who scored 38 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season. Cj Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Miami Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for True North Classical Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Miami Christian will stay at home for another game and welcome Calusa Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Calusa Prep is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. True North Classical Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Archbishop McCarthy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Archbishop McCarthy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
