The Loyola Academy Ramblers will challenge the Lane Tech Champions at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Loyola Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
While Loyola Academy's win against Saint Viator wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ramblers skirted past the Lions 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Ramblers have posted since April 23, 2024.

Hunter Lewis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
Lewis wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emilia Bartholomew, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Bartholomew has snagged this season. Another was Leanna Keller, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Loyola Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lane Tech's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Taft by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Champions have suffered since March 28, 2024.
Hannah Roeder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Grace Brobson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Loyola Academy pushed their record up to 10-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lane Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 18-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Loyola Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lane Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Loyola Academy beat Lane Tech 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Ramblers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Champions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
