The Bonny Eagle Scots are taking a road trip to take on the Kennebunk Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bonny Eagle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Bonny Eagle's last matchup with Massabesic could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Scots came up short against the Mustangs, falling 15-4. The Scots haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Bonny Eagle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neveah Hagerman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Sophie Sawyer also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Kennebunk came out on top against Westbrook on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Rams took their game against the Blue Blazes 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Blue Blazes: they've now won four in a row.
Juliann Pike made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Kourtney Brask was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Kennebunk pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Bonny Eagle, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bonny Eagle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Kennebunk struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bonny Eagle came up short against Kennebunk in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
