It was a good run, but the Douglass Astros unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshall County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Douglass' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Treadwell, who scored 16 points, and Joshua Mickell who scored 13 points along with eight assists. The match was Treadwell's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Javonte Floyd, who scored eight points along with three blocks.
Douglass' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Marshall County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Douglass won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Columbia Academy at 10:00 a.m. on December 22nd. Columbia Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Marshall County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Green County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
