Brackett extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 6-12. They lost 14-5 to the La Pryor Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-13 back in March.
Alianna Valdez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mia Talamantes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for La Pryor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-12. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On La Pryor's side, J Samarripa spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Samarripa also set a new season-high mark in RBI with four.
On the hitting side, Angela Contreras and Miranda Mata did most of the damage at the plate: Contreras went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Mata went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Mata a new career-high. Carmela Martinez was another key player, earning three runs.
Brackett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Pryor, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-3 loss against La Villa on the 24th.
