Baseball Recap: Bluffton Wins Going Away Against Churubusco

After only two runs in their last match, Bluffton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Churubusco on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Eagles 11-1. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Dawson Lee tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Chanley Shaw was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Trevor Smith was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Bluffton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Churubusco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will host Adams Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying Jets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Churubusco, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Churubusco's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fremont has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
