The Springville Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Cedar Valley hit Springville with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils came up short against the Aviators, falling 14-8. The Red Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Jaz Ciliezar made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Capri Housley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Salem Hills faced Desert Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Skyhawks fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Skyhawks have suffered since April 29, 2025.
Emmery Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Elmer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Salem Hills fell to 22-1. As for Springville, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Springville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Salem Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Springville couldn't quite get it done against Salem Hills in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 8-4. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
