The Montini Catholic Broncos can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They snuck past Timothy Christian with a 40-35 victory. For Montini Catholic, this counts as revenge for the 48-40 defeat Timothy Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Marc Gamble and Alex Keizer certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Gamble scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Keizer scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thon Bill, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Montini Catholic's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-15. As for Timothy Christian, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Montini Catholic and Loyola Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Loyola Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Montini Catholic in Illinois (Loyola Academy is ranked 29th, while Montini Catholic is ranked 311th). As for Timothy Christian, they will be playing at home against Wheaton Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheaton Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Timothy Christian likes a good challenge.
