Football Recap: Pasadena Piles Up the Points Against Hoover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pasadena). They breezed past the Hoover Tornados to the tune of 66-8 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tornados: they've now won six in a row.

Pasadena was led to victory by Synncere Pitts and Dutch Burbidge. Pitts rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Burbidge threw for 260 yards and five TDs while completing 92.9% of his passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave Burbidge a new career-high. Kyle Robertson was Burbidge's top target, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Pasadena didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hoover to a completion percentage of just 25.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Dior Middleton, Michael Ambrose, Delano King, and Derek Howell, who each logged one passes deflected. Pasadena hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.59 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Pasadena didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sebastian Clark and Middleton. Middleton is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Pasadena's record is now 4-2. As for Hoover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pasadena is set to square off against their familiar foe Burbank at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,032 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Hoover will face off against rival Burroughs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
