Basketball Recap: Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Takes a Loss

On Wednesday, the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers came up short against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas and fell 59-47. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Barracudas are ranked fourth).

When it comes to explaining why Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy lost, don't look at Kylie Green. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. Green is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Jadalynn Morel was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

New Smyrna Beach was led to victory by Olivia Olson and Iniya Reddicks. Olson dropped a double-double on 28 points and 16 rebounds, while Reddicks went 8 of 15 on her way to 18 points and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Olson has scored at least a third of New Smyrna Beach's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sariah Ammons, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for New Smyrna Beach, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-52 victory against Colonial on the 9th. As for New Smyrna Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-50 win against Edgewater on the 9th.
