Mt. Rainier is 0-10 against Tahoma since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rams will welcome the Bears at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Mt. Rainier has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Mt. Rainier took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Kentwood.
Meanwhile, Tahoma never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Kentlake. Considering the Bears have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Beckett Turnbow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Tahoma got a great performance from Brayden Fenton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Fenton a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Lucas Post and Neal Burtis did most of the damage at the plate: Post went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Burtis got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Post has posted since back in April of 2025. Grayson Turnbow was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Tahoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Tahoma's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Rainier, their win bumped their record up to 4-2-1.
Mt. Rainier couldn't quite finish off Tahoma when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
