After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeland Preparatory, Madison was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the West Carroll War Eagles by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Nicolas Udovich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ryker Stegall was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Dylan Stranak, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Carroll only posted an OBP of .304.
Madison moved to 7-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for West Carroll, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coming up, Madison will host Clarksburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarksburg has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something Madison will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Carroll, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Humboldt at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. West Carroll is facing Humboldt at the right time seeing as Humboldt is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
