It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Stone Bridge Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Falcons as they made off with a 29-6 win. The victory was nothing new for Stone Bridge as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stone Bridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Pena, who threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Troy Marquez, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Briar Woods to a paltry 182 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stone Bridge's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Jonathan Newton was especially locked on to Briar Woods' QB and sacked him twice.
Stone Bridge's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.2 points per game. As for Briar Woods, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.
Stone Bridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Matoaca at 2:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Matoaca is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Briar Woods does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
