The Onekama Portagers lost against the Glen Lake Lakers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Onekama fell just short of Glen Lake by a score of 38-36. While losing is never fun, Onekama can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Glen Lake is ranked 150th).
Glen Lake found their leader in underclassman Jacob Plamondon, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Plamondon is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played.
Onekama's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Glen Lake, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Onekama won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grand Traverse Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Grand Traverse Academy is coming into the match with six straight losses on the road, meaning Onekama will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Glen Lake, they will take on St. Francis at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Glen Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
