On Tuesday, the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs faced the Center Grove Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Franklin Community came out on top against Center Grove by a score of 62-53. Winning may never get old, but Franklin Community sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Franklin Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Klem out in front who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Buening, who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Center Grove had strong showings from Ava Grant, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists, and Lilly Bischoff, who scored 13 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Grant continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Audrey Annee was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Franklin Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Center Grove, they bumped their record down to 7-1 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Franklin Community will take on Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Soriah Gouard and Klem. As for Center Grove, they will head out on the road to face off against Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cathedral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Center Grove is ranked first).
