If the Belleville Buccaneers were feeling good off their 74-34 takedown of the University Academy Charter Generals last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The New Year welcomed Belleville with a 76-49 whooping from Millburn on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Belleville has scored all season.
Millburn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Ravitz led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The contest was Ravitz's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Benmorits, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists.
Belleville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Millburn, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belleville will take on Livingston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Livingston is ranked 98th, while Belleville is ranked 111th). Millburn won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nutley at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th.
