Basketball Recap: Boerne Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Boerne Greyhounds came up short against the Alamo Heights Mules and fell 53-44. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Mules are ranked 78th).

Despite the loss, Boerne still got an impressive performance from Nic Hernandez, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points. Hernandez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Will Traylor was another key player, putting up six points.

Leading Alamo Heights to victory were Beau Taber and Jack Brewer. Taber posted ten points and five steals, while Brewer went 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points. Brewer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Elliott, who put up five points.

This is the second loss in a row for Boerne and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Alamo Heights, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Boerne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-42 win against McCollum on the 27th. As for Alamo Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-52 defeat against Pieper on the 20th.
