The Marion County Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cannon County 42-7 on the road. The result was nothing new for Marion County, who have now won five matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Marion County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Leonard out in front who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was EJ Wilson, who gained 85 total yards and a touchdown.
Marion County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Cannon County and 3-6 Brainerd (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.8% over those games). As for Cannon County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Marion County will be playing at home against Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cascade will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Marion County is ranked 70th). Cannon County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
