The McFarland Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Riverdale Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
McFarland has not won a game since January 16th, a trend which continued on Tuesday. They and Delano finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The outcome might've been different if Isaac Rios hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.
McFarland avoided a loss thanks to
Cesar Velasquez and
Christian Oropeza, who posted both of McFarland's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 20 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Riverdale came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Minarets 13-1. Riverdale might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine contests by three goals or more this season.
McFarland's draw makes their record 6-13-4 this season. As for Riverdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8-5 record this season.
McFarland might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Riverdale in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can McFarland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
