The Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/Cowgirls scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Minatare 59-8 at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Cody-Kilgore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rachel Farley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Farley pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aubree Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Cody-Kilgore's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Minatare, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cody-Kilgore will challenge Bennett County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bennett County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cody-Kilgore in their respective states (Bennett County is ranked 108th in South Dakota, while Cody-Kilgore is ranked 245th in Nebraska). As for Minatare, they will head out on the road to challenge Kimball on Saturday.
