Ellensburg is 2-8 against East Valley since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Red Devils at 3:00 p.m. Ellensburg will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
In Tuesday's Canine Competition, Ellensburg prevailed. They put the hurt on Grandview with a sharp 20-9 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emerson Morrill and Jordan Dykes did most of the damage at the plate: Morrill went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI, while Dykes went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Dykes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Stueckle, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Ellensburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Selah by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since May 3, 2024.
Tia Ramynke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Alisha Young also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Ellensburg has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for East Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ellensburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like East Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ellensburg might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from East Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
