Even though the Cherry Creek Bruins scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, the Doherty Spartans still came out on top. Doherty took their game against Cherry Creek 67-57. For Doherty, this counts as revenge for the 71-60 loss Cherry Creek walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Leading Doherty to victory were Elijah Mack and Maddox Dee-Mortensen. Mack scored 17 points along with three steals, while Dee-Mortensen scored 18 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dee-Mortensen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of James Pulliam, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Cherry Creek, they bumped their record down to 6-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doherty will take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Cherry Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Arapahoe is ranked 55th, while Cherry Creek is ranked 37th).
