3A Region III District 24 recap October 1, 2013
Stafford extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 24 this week by beating KIPP Academy, 55-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Sweeny scaled the state rankings by moving to 355 from 478 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of beating Edna 51-47.
Stafford's dynamic duo of Sampson Bankole and Brian Imarenozor proved tough for KIPP Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bankole threw for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns and Imarenozor had 63 yards receiving. Adrian Seales helped Stafford's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 36 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Columbia's Jarius Kesee and Brandon Harris have proven to be a lethal combination. Kesee has thrown for 443 yards this season, while Harris has 8 catches for 122 yards. Dorland Fields from Sweeny leads the league in rushing with 886 yards.
Ron Counter's team took down Rodney Smith's team 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Bankole ran for 58 yards in the win.
