Basketball Recap: Klein Oak's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Klein Oak suffered their closest loss since November 22, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Klein Collins Tigers by a score of 40-37. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Tigers are ranked 91st).

Klein Oak lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Clarah Obenofunde, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards. That's the most rebounds Obenofunde has posted since back in November of 2024. Kiana Vega was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 boards.

Klein Collins got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christen Campbell out in front who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and eight steals. Campbell is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Niyah Harmon, who had 11 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

The defeat snapped Klein Oak's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 18-12 record. As for Klein Collins, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Klein Oak Panthers duke it out with the Tomball Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Klein Oak has won eight straight at home, while Tomball won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Klein Collins, they will square off against Tomball Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Tomball Memorial sitting on three straight wins and Klein Collins on six.
