Oceanside Collegiate Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eastside Eagles 8-7. The win was familiar territory for the Landsharks, who have now won 11 matchups in a row dating back to last season.
Cade Griffith looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Bowen Stickler was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Brusman, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
This is the second loss in a row for Eastside and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Looking ahead, Oceanside Collegiate Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Chapman at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Eastside, they will venture away from home to challenge West Ashley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
