Softball Recap: Northwest Guilford's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Northwest Guilford dropped their record down to 15-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 9-2 to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since March 13th.

As for Northern Guilford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

For Northern Guilford's part, Dakotah Wilkins was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Wilkins has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Headen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.
