Baseball Recap: Mansfield Takes a Loss

If Mansfield was riding high fresh off their 19-9 takedown of Addison on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Cowanesque Valley Indians by a score of 12-11 on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Alex Davis was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mansfield: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Easton Cleveland-Pequignot made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Noah Musser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Mansfield's record now sits at 11-5. As for Cowanesque Valley, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2.

Looking ahead, Mansfield will take on South Williamsport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cowanesque Valley, they will square off against Towanda at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
