Both Cherokee (13-1) and North Duplin (14-0) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Saturday at 12:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Cherokee has been tearing up the end zone with big points in its last three contests.
Cherokee claimed a 42 - 28 victory over Mitchell last week. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Tye Mintz, who ran for 146 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. Mintz has been a consistent playmaker for Cherokee as this was the 3rd good game in a row from him.
As for North Duplin, it finished ahead of Plymouth last week by a score of 12 - 6. Senior William Archer was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns). This was Archer's 6th game in a row with at least 100 rushing yards.
The last time they met, Cherokee skirted past North Duplin 22 - 20. Cherokee ended North Duplin's playoff run with that win, so what better chance for North Duplin to pay the team back than this game? Repeat or revenge, it should be a great matchup.
