The Palmyra Panthers were the 64-53 winner over the Southern Raiders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Palmyra received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 57-40 to Southern. Palmyra has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Palmyra lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drew Erhart. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Lang, who scored 8 points.
Among those leading the charge was Cooper Warford, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds. Cysn Singleton was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Palmyra's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southern, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Palmyra will head out on the road to face off against Johnson-Brock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Johnson-Brock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday. As for Southern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnson County Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
