After flying high against Westfair Christian on Friday, the Maryville Christian Lions came back down to earth. Maryville Christian fell just short of First Baptist Academy by a score of 37-35. Maryville Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as First Baptist Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Maryville Christian lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Schwenk. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade King, who scored eight points.
Maryville Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for First Baptist Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maryville Christian will challenge Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ Our Rock Lutheran will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. First Baptist Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
