The Laurel Hill Hoboes struggled with assists on Thursday (the Paxton Bobcats had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Laurel Hill received a tough blow as they fell 57-39 to Paxton. It was the first time this season that Laurel Hill let down their fans at home.
Despite the defeat, Laurel Hill saw an underclassman step up: Aiyana Dixon dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Dixon also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Arlana Williams, who scored five points along with four steals.
Among those leading the charge was Lexie Nagy, who scored ten points. Alyssa Falk was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Laurel Hill's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4. As for Paxton, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Laurel Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against East Hill Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hill Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Paxton, they will head out on the road to square off against Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bethlehem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Paxton is ranked 143rd).
