This season hasn't been kind to the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holyoke. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Haxtun of the 37-32 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Several Fightin' Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bobbi Starkebaum, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Starkebaum hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Cassidy Goddard was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Holyoke's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Audrey Talavera, who scored 20 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anessa Colglazier, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and three steals.
Haxtun's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Holyoke, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haxtun will take on Peetz at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holyoke, they will be playing at home against Y at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Y focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Saturday.
