The Bayside Academy Admirals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pensacola Christian Academy with a sharp 71-49 win. Given Bayside Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 173rd in Alabama, while Pensacola Christian Academy is ranked 503rd in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Quincy Williams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Bayside Academy pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Pensacola Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayside Academy will face off against UMS-Wright Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pensacola Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Baker at 6:15 p.m. on January 4th. Baker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
