The Legacy Longhorns will take on the Somerset Academy Losee Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Legacy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
Legacy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Foothill 68-45. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Alabama Nieves was her usual excellent self, going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Legacy's points. Laila Gines was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy Losee didn't have too much trouble with Basic on Friday as they won 63-49.
Legacy better keep an eye on Tia Cleveland. She was instrumental in Somerset Academy Losee's win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Cleveland a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Another player making a difference was Jayla Lewis, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.
Somerset Academy Losee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Legacy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points over those games. As for Somerset Academy Losee, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Legacy has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 50.4% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Somerset Academy Losee, though, as they've only made 25.7% of their threes this season. Given Legacy's sizable advantage in that area, Somerset Academy Losee will need to find a way to close that gap.
