The Wiggins Tigers lost against the Merino Rams back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Wiggins took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Merino. While losing is never fun, Wiggins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Merino is ranked 21st).
Wiggins' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Huwa, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Jr Meyer who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackson Adams, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Wiggins has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Merino, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Wiggins will look to defend their home court on Friday against Briggsdale at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Briggsdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. Merino won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Genoa-Hugo/Karval at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th.
