The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Dove Creek Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Montezuma-Cortez comes in on three and Dove Creek on nine.
Montezuma-Cortez put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They put the hurt on Alamosa with a sharp 66-43 win.
Taylor Whited was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Milah Begay, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Dove Creek beat Ignacio 47-43 on Tuesday.
Montezuma-Cortez's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Dove Creek, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Montezuma-Cortez suffered a grim 78-56 defeat to Dove Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Montezuma-Cortez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
