The River Valley Panthers will challenge the West Shamokin Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
River Valley is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since May 7, 2025 on Thursday. They skirted past Portage 4-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Sara Bollinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izabella Speal, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Twinchek, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Shamokin). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cambria Heights a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like River Valley, West Shamokin also got a great game from a two-way player: Leah Mondi. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Mondi was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Abbi Kimmel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Avery Elkin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
West Shamokin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambria Heights only posted an OBP of .214.
West Shamokin's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for River Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
River Valley might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from West Shamokin in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
