The Littleton Lions suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 76-42 defeat at the hands of Green Mountain. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Littleton in their matchups with Green Mountain: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Littleton still got an impressive performance from Treyton Fletcher, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Lasswell, who scored 11 points.
Leading Green Mountain to victory were Blake Weslin and Austin Beeson. Weslin dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Beeson went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beeson has scored all season. Ameer Dowdell was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Littleton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Green Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Littleton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heritage at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for Green Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge Pomona at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pomona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Green Mountain is ranked 116th).
