Baseball Recap: Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric Wins Going Away Against Heritage Christian Academy

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Friday. Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Heritage Christian Academy. Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.

Gabe Gerth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. Gerth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Nathan Latchem was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.

Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Heritage Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Faustina Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 14 runs per game this season. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Harvest Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
