The University Prep Academy Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Cindy Avitia 88-33 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for University Prep Academy as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
University Prep Academy can attribute much of their success to Mathias Woodaj , who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Woodaj scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Noah Berhe, who scored 14 points.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Chavez Nava, who scored 12 points. Athan Magallanes was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
University Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cindy Avitia, they bumped their record down to 3-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Luis Valdez Leadership Academy the next time they take the court. University Prep Academy will head out to face Luis Valdez Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Cindy Avitia will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
