East Nicolaus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Paradise Bobcats a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Spartans have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Stevie Knight made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning two runs and three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gabby Sotelo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Richie Farris, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
East Nicolaus hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
East Nicolaus' record is now 14-5. As for Paradise, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 1.9, the RedHawks 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Paradise is set to face off against their familiar foe Durham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
