Eastern Randolph kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost to the Cary Academy Chargers on the road by a 53-39 margin.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Callie Craven, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points plus eight rebounds and five steals. What's more, Craven also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Raegan Beaver was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eastern Randolph smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cary Academy only pulled down six.
Cary Academy found their leader in sophomore Gabrielle Young, who went 11 for 18 en route to 26 points plus five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nova Leuchtmann, who earned eight points plus three steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Cary Academy, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Eastern Randolph wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-23 loss against Parkland on the 21st. Cary Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 50-36 win against St. Thomas More Academy on the 20th.
