Highland Tech hasn't had much luck against Stuart W. Cramer recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will take on the Storm in a tournament on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Highland Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bessemer City with a sharp 12-4 victory on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rams considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Grayson Lunsford made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Highland Tech is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-6 otherwise. Lunsford was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.

Highland Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Stuart W. Cramer had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Rebels. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Storm have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Chris Wurster was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Highland Tech's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Highland Tech has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stuart W. Cramer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Highland Tech might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Stuart W. Cramer in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
