The Pioneer Patriots and the Hilmar Yellowjackets squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Pioneer Patriots had to settle for second. Pioneer took a 41-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hilmar. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martin Bartz, who threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Haiden Aletto did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 53 receiving yards.
Caden Bailey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bailey's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Logan Cardoso was in the mix too, providing Hilmar with two touchdowns.
Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Hilmar, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Pioneer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hilmar is on the road again on November 17th and play against Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. One thing working in Casa Roble's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six contests.
